Gala 2009

Tada!!!
I decided to go extremely cheap on my dress and only spent $13 on it from Forever21.
I mean, I know that everyone probably has the dress already since it was THAT cheap but who cares? Throw on some uber cool heels and accessories and sash around my waist and I am set to go for the annual Gala organized by the theatre department.

I love it when I feel so petite among my American friends.
On the other hand, it kinda suck to be the shortest in the class.

American friend: *grabs my shoulders*
oh my god Yenn, you are so petite.
Yenn: *thinks in my head yeah, I am a giant in Asia ok*
haha.. thanks, I am so flattered.

I remembered going back to Malaysia about 10 months ago feeling like a walking Giant lo... I guess I should stay here in USA longer, just to make me feel thin.

Billy my classmate who was half my date for the night

One of the best parts of the night was SPOOF.
Basically we have 8 shows a year, and during Gala some senior will direct an imitation of the shows (something like The Scary Movie or Meet the Spartans).
Sounds stupid, but it was amazing because I was in two of the eight shows and it was funny seeing scenes that I was in on stage again in a creepier and comedic version.

Seniors of 2009 of the Theatre Department

Crystal, one of the most talented person I have ever seen in my entire life and was the girl who slapped me every night for at least a month for Our Lady of 121st Street during Fall 2008.
Love her to bits!

Okay, here's Sam.
He might be my future husband in a couple of years..................... in case things don't work out between.............

It's not Jeph okay.

It's between my Visa and I :)
Get your mind off the Gut!

I think I've had this story in my blog before, but heck. It's always okay to say it again just because I want to.

Professor: So Yenn, what are you going to do after you graduate? Are you going to back to Malaysia?
Yenn: I hope not. What am I going to do with a Music Theatre Performance Degree back there? I kinda hope I can get a GREEN CARD.
Professor: Owh, it's easy then. Just get one of the Gay boys to Marry you!!
Sam: Yenn! It's a deal. 2010. You and me. *winks*

So there, I just got proposed to. Just in case you see Sam and I together, you'll know what's going on :)

This is a very bad attempt to try to camwhore with Louie.
But I thought that I looked okay in it so.... there you go.

Pretty girls all in a row in super colorful dresses.

*********
Random thoughts,

I am exhausted from doing nothing but chilling and eating at the Kelly's lake house 45 minutes away from Kalamazoo. It is one of the few most beautiful places that I have seen here in Michigan, sadly we couldn't do any water sports because of the cold and rainy weather.
BUT, we went drifting about in a speed boat and kayaking in the crystal clear lake.
I am just excited about spending more time there during warmer weather.

And.

How would you feel like when you have ALL of your shoes....
I repeat all of your shoes thrown away?
That includes my Nike Air Force Ones, my Nike Air Max, my Nike Free, my Aldo Boots, my Kickass Black Boots, all of my Leather Dance Shoes for class, and many many of my flats, sandals, flip flops and other heels.

Girls?
Boys, just imagine all of you computer accessories, video games, or even your soccer gear, or whatever that is worth your tears......

Whatever it is, it is a BIG DEAL.

Just for your info, I am a huge shoe fan and I love my shoes.
In the effort of moving to my new house, my dear sister helped me packed my shoes into a black garbage bag (how else you wanna keep them? I don't have enough space to pack them in boxes... but WAIT!), it was packed, a labelled CLEARLY with a GOLD Marker saying YENN'S SHOES okay. And! the bag was not tied, which means it was left open, which also means that you could still see what was inside. And, it was placed next to my black bag of winter coats which was also labelled.

Think about it.

It was almost impossible to have it mistakenly thrown away. Unless the bag of coats were gone too. Unless there was no attention paid. Unless, you are so unaware and completely busy doing something else!?

Total damage. Almost 600 usd
Let's not multiply it by the 3.7 currency rate ok.

Oh my god.... what would you do.
I don't even know what should I do.
I was too surprised and shocked to even really cry.
I could kill someone at that time, I swear!
I don't know what to feel right now.

And even if I get the money back to buy those shoes again, where the heck can I find the same deals?

@#$%fudgingfishcakesauce@#$%^

Can you feel my pain?

Guess what?!

I am wearing sunglasses!

The trees are not bare anymore!

The sun is shining.

The fountain is up again, and people are sun bathing.

Flowers are blooming!!!

After six long months of thick socks and boots.... I finally get to wear my slip on sandals again!

I actually have a nice strongly defined shadow on the ground.

SPRING IS HERE!
Hence the rainy weather this week.

I can't wait for summer.....

Last day of exams and classes for me...... wheee*

Homemade Hamburgers and Jo's Birthday

Homemade Patties

I have waited months (literally) for this day to come.
Jeph and I took the opportunity of the one not so cold days to make our own hamburger patties.

Here's Jeph starting the mini grill at my balcony

We bought Colby and Pepper jack cheese to accompany our burger patties.
As for the burger patties, we had green peppers, onions, garlic, cayenne pepper, seasoned salt, black pepper, Italian herbs, and a whole lot of minced meat.

I did the marinating and mixing after class and set them on the backing sheet while I waited for Jeph to start the fire.
Ooo.. and we had hot Bratwurst (fat sausages) too!

Look at the fire dancing.... lalala...

Jeph bought chips (with a hint of lemon) and southwestern ranch dip too.
Look at em happy souls.

Lol... I think this picture made the hamburger look disgusting.
Thanks to the quality of my cellphone camera

Grrr... I had many more pictures but then they were takes with my sad lil 2.0mp no-focus-no-flash-suck in the dark camera-phone.

AND, our hamburger patties turned out extremely successful and delicious! I think I can actually sell the recipe and make some profit our of it. But then again, I already listed all the stuff I needed above already...
Bah... go make it yourself and tell me if it's nice or not.
:)

Jo's BBQ Birthday

Here's the birthday boy who invited all of us to his house after the International Program Council meeting that we had on campus.
He was the chef of the day too!

We had homemade hamburger patties too, but this time it was Jo's recipe.
Delicious.
I really think that we should have a hamburger patty competition and see who makes the best tasting burger patties. It would be exciting! :)

Jo and I digging our fingers into the marinated meat.

Yikes!!!
I will kick someone if he touches my face with his hamburger hands..

Back at YOU!

Aziz, Lynn, and Joe.
Another round of super yummy and successful burger.

While waiting for the burgers to cook, the girls played Frisbee.....

while the boys played a game of soccer.

Here's our beloved Harrington siblings Aziz and Rose

Hashim and I lovin' our Barbecued Food.
See how humongous my burger was?!

Us girls again.

At the backyard

My all time favorite camwhore partner, Lynn
*hearts*

Did I mention that there was a swing hanging from the tree of Jo's backyard too?!
Brings me back my childhood memories when there was a time Lynn and I both shared ONE swing seat. And now, our butts are the size of Texas :(

Look at my sister acting all baby girl again

She looks even teenier in this one! Lol

Hehe... I want a swing in my backyard too (that's if I have a backyard).

After the BBQ Dinner, we headed to Airway Lanes for some fun.
They had miniature golf, comic bowling alley, arcades, Laser tag, Go karts, and many more games.

I liked this laser vault thing that I paid 3bucks for.
If you can see properly, that's me crawling on my knees on TV

It's like those mission impossible laser "obstacle courses" you see in movies like GET SMART and you can't touch any of the laser beams or else it will slice off your flesh.
Nah... it's not that dramatic. You just get a loud beep when you touch a laser beam.
Lynn was somewhere in the picture...... somewhere.......

Here's the booth where you can try to get a toy from. And I sucked in it. Whatever.

We played Go karts, arcade games (which reminded me of high school days when I played those cheap time wasting games at Summit's arcade), bumper cars and......

Even had a special karaoke appearance at the bar.
Although I am a performer, but its nerve wrecking doing spontaneous performances like that okay (especially I was freezing, dead tired, and having a cold at that time)
Lynn and I sang Carrie Underwood's BEFORE HE CHEATS.

Most of us at the Bar.

I didn't get to take any other pictures because *again* my cellphone camera sucks when there is no good lighting.

Note to self, charge your camera next time!

It's raining now, it makes me sleepy.... but it's a sign!
Spring is here!!!!!!!!!!!!
wokay, back to studying.... exams tomorrow and I am done for the semester.
*grins*
I hate drunktarts.
I don't hate them personally though.
But I really do hate the things they do, the things they say, and the things that they react to.
Sometimes I wonder why the hell do I associate myself with these people.
It's so annoying.
Why am I even doing this.
I wish there was more to life.

Second Staged Reading Performance

The Witches of Eastwick is a 2000 musical based on the novel of the same name by John Updike. It was adapted by John Dempsey (lyrics and book) and Dana P. Rowe (music), directed by Eric Schaeffer, and produced by Cameron Mackintosh.

The story is based around three female protagonists, the Witches Alexandra Spofford, Jane Smart, and Sukie Rougemont. During the story, their magical powers grow, and they eventually summon a devil-like character, Darryl Van Horne. The mysterious Darryl seduces each of the women in turn, teaching them how to further expand their powers, and creating a scandal in the town. The women come to realise that Darryl is corrupting them and the town, and resolve to exile him from their lives.

Homecooked

What do you do when you have Eggplant (Brinjal as Malaysians call it), egg, and minced meat?

Since I don't remember when was the last time I made something to eat, Jeph and I decided that it is a must that we make a meal together.

First thing I thought, I have dozens of herbal soup I have from Malaysia!
Set. That'll be it. But what else?
Jeph suggested Torta (Filipino egg dish with minced meat, eggplant, and other seasonings).

So we bought all the stuff that we needed. Mainly eggs, eggplant, meat, and nothing more.

Here's Torta.
Looks almost like our usually omelette with onions except that it's with minced meat and eggplant.

My super easy and favorite herbal soup which reminds me of Grandma because she always makes the best soups.

And....... the best and spontaneous dish of the day made with leftovers of Torta.

Stuffed Eggplant!!!!
Oh my gosh... it tasted so darn good. It reminded me of eating in a prestigious Chinese Restaurant back home. You know the ones in weddings with 9 different courses of meals... gosh I miss those :(
Yeah, that was how it tasted like. And it was so darn easy to make!!!!!
Marinate marinate marinate...stuff the darn thing into the eggplant and it's done!

Here's the happy souls devouring the yummy dinner.
Hehe... I'm so proud of myself :)

One more day of class girl... hang on.
You are almost there, then you have 4 whole months of holiday.
zzzzzzzzzzzZZZzzzzzz..........
