The New Jersey School of Dramatic Arts (NJSDA) has announced its new cabaret series, "Lyrics and Laughter - An Evening of Comedy and Song," to debut Saturday, Oct. 16.
The night begins with performances by veteran singers hailing from New York and New Jersey, with credits ranging from off-Broadway to local professional theaters. A performance by the improvisational comedy troupe "On The Spot" follows. A pre-show wine and cheese reception is also offered.
The singers include Natalie Cordone, who recently appeared off-Broadway in "Tony 'N Tina's Wedding," and New Jersey natives Sue-Yenn Ng (whose regional credits include the 25th annual Putnam County Spelling Bee), David Dilsizian (who recently appeared with the Downtown Singers at Carnegie Hall), Jen Ponton (who recently received acclaim as Berdine in "Psycho Beach Party" at The Theater Project in Union) and Joe D'Angio (a senior BFA candidate with the Musical Theatre program at Montclair State University).
On The Spot is NJSDA's second improvisational troupe, entertaining New Jersey audiences since 2007. Their shows are based entirely on audience suggestions.
"The only thing better than having a great idea is watching it come to life right before your eyes," says troupe director Ted Wrigley.
Troupe members include Mick Gyure and Rich McDonald of West Orange; Katie Rose of Nutley; Michael Amabile, Tonye Briggs and Jennifer Jones of Edison; Jennifer Beza of Bogota; Joe Carney of Garwood; Jason Clark of Dumont; Sakinah Hofler of Newark; Matthew Hopkins of Elmwood Park; and Jackie Pereda of Morganville.
"Lyrics and Laughter - An Evening of Comedy and Song" premieres at NJSDA’s theater at 593 Bloomfield Ave., Bloomfield. Show times are 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. Tickets are $12 apiece.

If only this wasn't so far from the city. I wished my friends would come and support but it would be selfish of me to make them go an hour into Jersey for a short show like this. Oh well, I'm just glad that I have the chance to perform :)

Till then, stay healthy!
